And let us not neglect our meeting together, as some people do, but encourage one another, especially now that the day of his return is drawing near. (NLT) -Hebrews 10:25 It's easy to get carried away with busy schedules and slip away from going to church.  After all, there are only two days in the weekend.  But don't let yourself forget the importance of church.  Where will you go and who will you turn to in hard times?  If you are already established in the church routine, you will find lots of support. Yet I still dare to hope when I remember this: The faithful love of the Lord never ends! His mercies never cease. (NLT) -Lamentations 3:21-22 Have you stopped daring to hope? At times, our hope in our dreams and plans on this earth to do great things diminish when we don't see a sliver of success. But don't let that stop you from believing in yourself. Remember, even though we may not see God, our hope in His love and grace is always there. Keep hoping no matter what. Download this app to get your daily devotions: http://bit.ly/16uZrQ5

Teach us to realize the brevity of life, so that we may grow in wisdom. (NLT) -Psalm 90:12 It's easy to push aside the knowledge that life is short. That is, until we hear of a loved one who passes. When we really come to value our life, it becomes less important to have additional time and more important to have quality time. We grow in wisdom with our choices of how we spend our time. Let's stay sensitive to how we spend our time, where we spend our time, and with whom we spend our time. Download this app to get your daily devotions: http://bit.ly/16uZrQ5
When Jesus heard this, he was amazed. Turning to those who were following him, he said, "I tell you the truth, I haven't seen faith like this in all Israel!" (NLT) -Matthew 8:10 What an honor it is to impress Jesus with your faith. But faith means believing in Jesus beyond human reason. Are you keeping your faith separate from your struggles in life? Invite Him in. Rituals and obligation do not amaze Jesus. Instead, it's trusting Jesus with your problems, asking for His help, and believing He will provide. Dear brothers and sisters, if another believer is overcome by some sin, you who are godly should gently and humbly help that person back onto the right path. And be careful not to fall into the same temptation yourself. (NLT) -Galatians 6:1 Each one of us has a God given mission on this earth. Sometimes we stumble and are deterred from this mission because we allow sin to get in the way. Fortunately, we are not alone, God has blessed us with other believers to help us along the way. It is very important we humbly help others when they fall off track. Just think how proud God will be for helping others get back to their mission. So I Say, let the Holy Spirit guide your lives. Then you won't be doing what your sinful nature craves. (NLT) -Galatians 5:16 Are you open to listening to what the Holy Spirit has to say? It's difficult to know when it is the Holy Spirit leading you, but there are several discernible ways. First, you are open to guidance. Second, you are ready to obey what the Holy Spirit guides you to do even if it is outside of your comfort zone. Third, you know the difference between your feelings and the promptings of the Holy Spirit. So, let the Holy Spirit guide your life. The silver is mine, and the gold is mine, says the Lord of Heaven's Armies. (NLT) -Haggai 2:8 Life is busy. We're so focused on achieving more, advancing our careers, and moving on to the next stage in life. While it's a good thing to improve, we need to remind ourselves that the purpose is for God's kingdom and not ours. You will live in joy and peace. The mountains and hills will burst into song, and the trees of the field will clap their hands! (NLT) -Isaiah 55:12 Do other people find your joy contagious? In his grace, God has given us different gifts for doing certain things well. So if God has given you the ability to prophesy, speak out with as much faith as God has given you. (NLT) -Romans 12:6 Everyone has some awesome gifts that God has given to us. But like side-effects to medicine, gifts have associated habits or behaviors that may be distracting. You may have a talent to multi-task and juggle many things but that may come at a price of not being able to devote your complete attention on one person. Maybe your gift is carefully crafting your words when you speak to be respectful of other's feelings. However, others may see you as being quiet or disinterested because of that. When the people of Israel saw the mighty power that the Lord had unleashed against the Egyptians, they were filled with awe before him. They put their faith in the Lord and in his servant Moses. (NLT) -Exodus 14:31 Time and time again, God performed many miracles for the Israelites in order to free them from Egypt. Yet again and again, their hearts were skeptical and failed to put their trust in Him. Is our faith so weak that we expect a miracle first before we place our faith in the Lord? However, when speaking of faith to others it is much more important for other people to understand God and Jesus Christ than it is to impress them. Prayer For Ephesus

Rev 2:1 Unto the angel of the church of Ephesus write; These things saith he that holdeth the seven stars in his right hand, who walketh in the midst of the seven golden candlesticks; Rev 2:2 I know thy works, and thy labour, and thy patience, and how thou canst not bear them which are evil: and thou hast tried them which say they are apostles, and are not, and hast found them liars: Rev 2:3 And hast borne, and hast patience, and for my name's sake hast laboured, and hast not fainted. Rev 2:4 Nevertheless I have somewhat against thee, because thou hast left thy first love. Rev 2:5 Remember therefore from whence thou art fallen, and repent, and do the first works; or else I will come unto thee quickly, and will remove thy candlestick out of his place, except thou repent. Rev 2:6 But this thou hast, that thou hatest the deeds of the Nicolaitans, which I also hate. Rev 2:7 He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches; To him that overcometh will I give to eat of the tree of life, which is in the midst of the paradise of God. Lord Jesus, Help us to seek you out as children, new and fresh in our love and desire for You. Father God refresh our hearts and our minds according to Your Merciful Will and Word, refilling us with the hopes and desires for the pure and perfect things that may come from Your Hand Alone. Father make right our hearts and our minds, Lord call back Your Lost, Your Hurting, Your Widowed, and Your Broken lambs; remind us through Your Holy Spirit Lord of how to perform the first works and repent of our own selfish and wicked ways and desires. Help us lay claim to Your Salvation Adonai, strengthen and encourage us Lord that we may never lose sight of the prize that You Promise and the Salvation that only You May afford us. In Your Holy and Precious Name we pray! AMEN! Mat 5:3 Blessed are the poor in spirit: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. LOVE The First Love John 3 : 16 – 21 For God So Loved The World That He Gave HIS ONLY BEGOTTEN SON That Whosoever Believeth In HIM Should Not Perish, But Have Everlasting Life! For God sent not His Son into the world to condemn the world, but so that the world through Him might be saved. He that believeth in Him is not condemned but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the Only Begotten Son of God. And this is the condemnation, that light has come into the world and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil. For everyone that doeth evil, hateth the light, neither cometh to the light; lest his deeds should be reproved. But he that doeth truth, cometh to the light; that his deeds may be made manifest, that they are wrought in God. Remember being a child newly introduced to the idea of God and Jesus? Remember walking around talking to Jesus all the time? If you do not, then it is a joy that you may meet Him now! Remember how innocent and pure your conversations were with Our Savior and Eternal Lord? No boundaries, no questions that were bridled or hindered by rules and subjugation. Do you remember that sense of overwhelming love and compassion you would feel whenever His Presence was near? The love of Sunday School, not just because you were around your friends and Sunday School Teachers but also because you loved the stories and lessons and loved learning them? If you do not remember these things then try to recall them, or ask in prayer that these fires be rekindled within your heart and mind. The Holy Spirit moves on behalf of a willing heart, it is the bridled heart that hinders the flow. While looking into the “First Works” it has been a pleasure to be brought back to the beginning, that youthful sense of love and adoration that swells up in an innocent heart for its maker and redeemer. That first love, so deep, so precious; all consuming and so desirous of purity and holiness. Where to begin was the question, “Seek Ye First” was the answer. How to seek the next quandary, “For God So Loved” the reply. In praying and studying the revelation message to the church of Ephesus I was lead to the first Beatitude, “Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.” What is a poor spirit? It is a spirit broken and destitute , beyond the means of self sufficiency; seeking and searching for support from a giving hand. When we reach the depths of despair, we cry out for help and if that cry comes from the depths of our hearts and is directed at the True Light of Salvation; then He Who Overcomes is sure and faithful in answering and delivering from poverty. In seeking the “First Love” through prayer and meditations, I was lead to the first spiritual fruit; LOVE. Not some twisted perverse sense of love as the world would express, but pure true, and righteous love as only God may manifest. John 3:16 tells us that God gave His Only Begotten Son to die that all who believe in Him should live. Christ Our Lord stated plainly “There is no greater love than this, that one would lay down his life for his brother.”, we are instructed to “Love the Lord Our God with all of our hearts, all of our souls, all of our bodies, and all of our strength; this being the first commandment, and the second is like such, that we should love our neighbors as our selves.” But what is this First Love? It comes down to a simple explanation, and simple exercise. Bow your head and pray, even if you have prayed and asked Jesus into your heart before; pray the sinner's prayer. Lord Jesus, I know that I am a sinner; and my sins separate me from You. Please forgive me of my sins Lord, and help me to know You. Let Your Holy Spirit work in me Lord, remaking and reshaping my heart and mind. Renew me Heavenly Father according to the promise of Your Word. Jesus thank You for taking my punishment and dying for my sins, thank You for coming into my heart and living within me so that I may learn to live in You; help me to accept You as my Savior and Lead me in Your Everlasting Way in Your Holy Name I pray. AMEN! This after all is the “First Work”, to say “Lord, I know that I am wretched and horrid, covered in sin and iniquity. Help me Lord to repent I plead.” for in this is the work that begins all meaningful works. It is the acknowledgment of brokenness and destitution of spirit. The relinquishing of self that God may have control. The giving of one's heart to the Savior, truly the first and greatest work; an all too often unacknowledged task that opens the door to the first step towards a repentant life. Many consider their labor by the visions the world lays out and the examples set by society, yet they forget that true labor in the Lord is exercising the act of seeking His Word and striving towards a better mind and heart. The truest labor of the Lord is in studying His Scriptures and making them a part of who you are as a person. And this work, my friends, in this world, is truly a laborious act of submission and love. The First Work, The First Love. Is This Not Truly The First Love? Is this not truly the First Love, that in purity of holiness with a complete lack of sin He took the lashes that were due me, and bore my cross to Calvary. The one on whom ascended the Holy Spirit in form of dove, after that fateful walk down the way of suffering, those gruesome nails held Him to that tree. In whom the cost of all eternal debts of sin were paid, My Savior gave His life, so that I may claim a life. Three days He laid within that grave, My God restored His Life, so that through Him we may claim eternal life. For if He at first loved us so, should we not as like love one another also? Heaven's King who in form of man bore no earthly crown, save that of thorns that scoffers may scorn as it pierced His brow. Gave all glory honor and praise to God who alone is Holy, His life He laid down to be restored that God may receive all glory. Although all power in heaven and on earth were His to command, He relinquished all authority to His Father thereby taking the servant's stand. Should we not too as He did so love, seek also to be like Him? Beachem Paul Cockroft November 6, 2013 Ephesus reminds us of self searching, introspection; to look within ourselves and search our hearts for the truth of our servitude. Ephesus reminds us to turn back to the cross, to speak to the One who first spoke us into being. To cling to the light of love that only Our Savior may shine within our hearts. Ephesus beckons to us to remember Christ and that first initial broken heart upon learning the truth of His Sacrifice and what it truly means to us. There is a story associated with Ephesus of seven young men who refused a decree by the emperor of their day to bow down and worship idols, for they themselves were servants of The Lord Jesus Christ. Their refusal was heard by the emperor and they were marked for death. They removed themselves from the town to a cave on mount Anchilos and began praying in preparation to be martyred. In the course of their prayers they fell asleep. Upon awakening they reaffirmed their resolve in Christ, vowing again to not bow down to idols; they appointed one of their group to return to town for food as they were hungered. When the youth returned to town he saw the sign of the cross about him on all sides in the architectures. He was confused and astonished, thinking that they had slept for merely a night. Upon attempting to purchase bread for he and his fellows, he was called to question as his funds were to the peddlers as an ancient treasure. Thinking the lad refused to give them sufficient information as to his acquisition of this treasure they took him to the head priest of the day. The boy not understanding thought that he was being taken before the tyrant ruler of his day and set his heart to lose his head for Christ. The questioning lead to the realization that the young man was not alone but instead had six others who would be of the like mind to him. So the procession was lead to the cave in which the young men had slept. Many fellow believers in the days that the boys had retreated to the cave had placed letters denoting their faith and their refusal to bow to idols at the mouth of the cave thereby giving account of their time period. Upon finding these things the ruling authorities of the day realized that these young men had slept in this cave for better than one hundred and eighty years. The emperor was called to meet them and blessed them for they were a miracle and the city of Ephesus had come under Catholic rule. As the emperor met them, he blessed them for the faith in the resurrection of Christ was renewed through them and their miracle of sleep for nearly two centuries. Upon meeting the emperor and receiving his blessing they laid their heads to the ground and gave up the ghost. Blessed be the name of the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Of course the preceding is a rough summary of the story of the seven sleepers of Ephesus, however it is an account of a miracle that is not so widely known. The young men refused to bow and worship false gods, much like Daniel they chose to accept death rather than violate the first commandment and God honored their service. They were from a time wrought with wickedness and false faiths, and they were not well with the environment that they were in. Being set for execution they retired to prayer and supplication that they may make ready their hearts and minds for the coming of their deaths. Ephesus in so many ways marks a return to prayer, earnest and fervent given to wholehearted submission to Christ, repentance of our sins scouring of our spirit and soul that we may be cleansed and prepared to give our all to Christ. One has to wonder if the young men prayed for the city to be redeemed and sanctified unto the Lord, and if God granted their petition and chose to allow them to see their petition granted by means of their long sleep. After all they awakened to a Christian city and culture that they had not known. They gave thanks and praises to the Lord for the miracle and passed on to be with Our Father in Heaven. When reading in God's word there is a book adjoined to this particular church, the book of Ephesians. We see no book for Smyrna, or Thyatira, or Philadelphia, or any of the other churches related to the seven churches of Revelation; not even Pergamos which one would think would need it most. Nope, Ephesus got a book from Paul the Apostle; it is the place of the first works and first love, and reminds us to look within our selves and make ready for death or the return of Our Savior whichever may come first, and always watch the heavens for Our King's return. Take us back to the beginning Oh Lord, lead us to Your Cross Lord Jesus that we may remember how You first loved us and we first loved You that our love may wax hot and never again wain cold. In Your Most Holy and Precious Name Jesus we pray. AMEN! Hear Oh Israel The Lord Thy God! For The Lord Thy God Is One, Thou Shalt Have No Other gods Before (in front of, you shall no other god first but first ask Him) HIM! This is the first commandment! This is the first love! Thou Shalt Love The Lord Thy God With All Thy Heart All Thy Mind All Thy Body And All Thy Strength! AMEN! As we look to assemble and take up our armor piece by piece, we could well consider the message given the church of Ephesus a spiritual key to the first piece of our armor, THE BELT of TRUTH! Considering the concept that Christ is the heart of truth, the mind of truth, His life was the very embodiment of God's Truth and Light, the message given being “Repent, And Return Ye Unto Your First Love!” would this love not be the very delight in God's Truth? Thus by returning to our first love we return to the heart of truth, of course we more often tend not to successfully immediately return to this heart of truth but rather through diligently seeking the Holy Spirit of Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ we lay claim by perseverance to His Mind, clinging to our love of His Word. Praise God for His Wonders Never Cease! When I was a child I was play fishing on the boat parked in the front yard, I do not believe I was even five years old yet. I had a fish stringer (this is a cord with a metal ring on one end, and a metal spike to stick in the ground on the other, the metal spike would be run through the gill of the fish and then through the metal loop so that the fisherman could stick the metal spike into the ground and keep his fish alive because fish spoil quickly if not immediately cleaned for eating and the longer you keep them alive the fresher the taste) and I had a puppy. Well I thought the puppy could be my fish, and well.... So my puppy didn't make it and I was devastated. I cried out to God, “Jesus Please let the puppy live, take me instead.” I was told, that He had plans for me, the devil did also apparently because the whispers of cursed and curses began the same day. However the Holy Spirit always whispered oh so gently “Son I am with you, you will be fine.”. This soft gentle whisper has always led me to the right choices and the right paths, but it has not always been the easiest to discern; as it is a fact that demons do seek to learn to mimic this whisper and mislead the Children of God. The world has filled with gross diversities of false doctrines most invented within the past two decades, as it is written; the bible speaks of demons the internet and society lead us to believe that they are simply psychological disorders, so when it gets down to the dirt it's a one on one calling to the One. Isaiah 1:18 18 “Come now, let us reason together, says the Lord: though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they are red like crimson, they shall become like wool.” It was well over a year ago when the Lord called me to begin this research and writing, it has not been an easy venture to say the least; the initial goal was to research the seven churches of revelation and do a writing on each, however the course has dictated one church at a time as this is a path so each stopping point on the path must be achieved before moving forward to the next goal. As I share this first step, I ask that you would pray for my guidance and instruction from the Holy Spirit of Truth from The Living God that no lie may enter in as we continue on our path to the next stop the church of Smyrna through faith in Jesus Who is The One Begotten Son of The Father and Who is The Christ Eternal in His Holy Name! AMEN! If you are lead to contribute to this ministry please send your gifts to thedressingvineminstries@paypal.com thank you and may God bless you accordingly. Shalom
But the gateway to life is very narrow and the road is difficult, and only a few ever find it. (NLT) -Matthew 7:14 Eternal life is considered to be narrow because there is only one way, through believing in Christ Jesus. Unfortunately, as the Bible says, only a few will find it. The road is difficult because it may mean we lay down our pride, take the high road, and serve others with love. But, oh how blessed we are that there is a road! So if you are suffering in a manner that pleases God, keep on doing what is right, and trust your lives to the God who created you, for he will never fail you. (NLT) -1 Peter 4:19 No one likes to suffer but yet we all do at some point in our lives. The question is whether we're suffering with a Godly purpose or suffering from our bad decisions. If you've made a decision such as to purchase unnecessary stuff and find yourself suffering financially, it's probably time to take action and reverse the suffering. However, if you're in an uncomfortable situation because of an inconvenience to your schedule due to helping others, it may just be a suffering with a Godly purpose. What are you suffering for? I want to share my perspective today before I get sidetracked again.
I feel like covering a few things.
I will start with "Brotherhood and Codes"
I know you more than likely have seen them online or in person.
Bikers and military and yes the police have them. I don't care if you like one and hate the other that is not the point. Besides we have been high jacked and brain washed by the media and by bias experience. It is no secret there are the handful of bad apples that get the attention so people go on a crusade,, this is understandable to try to right a wrong. But too often we condemn the whole because of the few. We have been played, dissension is the best way to keep us divided and weak.
Back to the base of this post. Keep in mind this is my view. A brotherhood is were we share a common link be it bikers, military and police. We may not always agree with each other and disapprove of their actions. Let me make this clear that true brotherhood will bleed and even die for each other. Yes that means putting your needs aside at times.
Codes are a standard we place on ourselves. Most will not understand and may even think it's foolish, crazy or harsh. You know what, we are not worried if you understand. People will talk shit about us until they get in a bind and cry out. Part of that code is to help those who are less fortunate and take care of that need. Yes I admit some are assholes but when the chips are down you know who has you covered.
It is easy to bash what you don't fully comprehend and feed off of stereotypes portrayed by media. Try putting yourself in the shoes of those who are hated as a whole because of a few. Think about this. I mean it! To understand while you are watching your partner, best friend, running mate...you get the idea....they are taking their dying breaths and their blood stains your hands and you wish you could trade places with them. So they can go home to their loved ones. Are you getting the picture now. THAT IS BROTHERHOOD! Until you know it first hand don't talk shit about it.
Here's is where I am coming from. I have brothers and friends from all three. So when the world is pointing fingers and saying You are thugs, criminals, puppets or you are evil, We have family, friends and loved ones. If you are going to hate you better get better info than what the media shows you. I respect my brothers who are doing their job right. I have parts of all 3 worlds in my blood. I will shed blood for those close to me and maybe do things you may not understand.
This is how I feel and I had to get it out.
RESPECT is not just a word. Hate me if you chose, unfriend me if you need. But ask yourself about who you want in your corner when the world id kicking your ass.

As for the rest of you, dear brothers and sisters, never get tired of doing good. (NLT) -2 Thessalonians 3:13 Doing good and right things can be hard and is not always easy. We must think clearly about the right reactions to have and the right actions to take. We must have courage to do good and bring light into others. If we aren't careful we can easily tire, so be mindful. Nevertheless, challenge yourself to do one good thing for someone else today. For the kind of sorrow God wants us to experience leads us away from sin and results in salvation. There's no regret for that kind of sorrow. But worldly sorrow, which lacks repentance, results in spiritual death. (NLT) -2 Corinthians 7:10 It's hard to believe, but sometimes God WANTS us to become sad and upset. He desires that we use those emotions constructively for spiritual growth to bring us closer to Him. The big question is at the end of the day do you feel sadness over your past behavior because of disobedience to God or for the consequences of your actions? Feeling worldly sorrow? The heartfelt counsel of a friend is as sweet as perfume and incense. (NLT) -Proverbs 27:9 Friendship can be very powerful. Friends can encourage, inspire, and drive us to become better Christians. For no one is abandoned by the Lord forever. Though he brings grief, he also shows compassion because of the greatness of his unfailing love. (NLT) -Lamentations 3:31-32 As parents, do we take enjoy punishing our children? No! But we do it because we love our children. In the same way, it is also painful when we receive punishment from the Lord. Take joy though that you have a heavenly Father who is unfailing in His love for you. And the people of Berea were more open-minded than those in Thessalonica, and they listened eagerly to Paul's message. They searched the Scriptures day after day to check up on Paul and Silas, to see if they were really teaching the truth. (NLT) -Acts 17:11 It's very important we stay tuned into God's word. Otherwise, how will we know if we are receiving the truth according to Christ's teaching? Couldn't we easily be misguided if we are not well versed with the truth? A Powerful Prayer For Healing

When you obey my commandments, you remain in my love, just as I obey my Father's commandments and remain in his love. (NLT) -John 15:10 Being obedient can be difficult to do without the right attitude. There is something deep down inside us that fights against submission and obedience. 7 Where shall I go from your Spirit?
Or where shall I flee from your presence?
8 If I ascend to heaven, you are there!

But why should I fast when he is dead? Can I bring him back again? I will go to him one day, but he cannot return to me. (NLT) -2 Samuel 12:23 King David spoke these words after his infant son died. Death is hard and we all feel the holes left behind. Anger and hurt can sometimes be byproducts of a loved one's passing. But those who won't care for their relatives, especially those in their own household, have denied the true faith. Such people are worse than unbelievers. (NLT) -1 Timothy 5:8 Is someone in your family in need of help? Sometimes it can be a challenge to step up and be that life saver. There can be a lot of emotional baggage that can spur hesitation. God has given each of you a gift from his great variety of spiritual gifts. Use them well to serve one another. (NLT) -1 Peter 4:10 Have you experienced a renewed mind after listening to a talented musician who sings songs to glorify God? Life on this earth can be rough, fortunately, God has equipped each of us with talent. Let's remember to use our gifts to strengthen others. Morning, Dec 2 Thou art all fair, my love. — Song of Solomon 4:7 The Lord’s admiration of his Church is very wonderful, and his description of her beauty is very glowing. She is not merely fair, but “all fair.” He views her in himself, washed in his sin-atoning blood and clothed in his meritorious righteousness, and he considers her to be full of comeliness and beauty. No wonder that such is the case, since it is but his own perfect excellency that he admires; for the holiness, glory, and perfection of his Church are his own glorious garments on the back of his own well-beloved spouse. She is not simply pure, or well-proportioned; she is positively lovely and fair! She has actual merit! Her deformities of sin are removed; but more, she has through her Lord obtained a meritorious righteousness by which an actual beauty is conferred upon her. Believers have a positive righteousness given to them when they become “accepted in the beloved” (Eph. 1:6). Nor is the Church barely lovely, she is superlatively so. Her Lord styles her “Thou fairest among women.” She has a real worth and excellence which cannot be rivalled by all the nobility and royalty of the world. If Jesus could exchange his elect bride for all the queens and empresses of earth, or even for the angels in heaven, he would not, for he puts her first and foremost—“fairest among women.” Like the moon she far outshines the stars. Nor is this an opinion which he is ashamed of, for he invites all men to hear it. He sets a “behold” before it, a special note of exclamation, inviting and arresting attention. “Behold, thou art fair, my love; behold, thou art fair” (Song of Sol. 4:1). His opinion he publishes abroad even now, and one day from the throne of his glory he will avow the truth of it before the assembled universe. “Come, ye blessed of my Father” (Matt. 25:34), will be his solemn affirmation of the loveliness of his elect. Look after each other so that none of you fails to receive the grace of God. Watch out that no poisonous root of bitterness grows up to trouble you, corrupting many. (NLT) -Hebrews 12:15 It's always so difficult to see bitterness when you are feeling it, yet so easy to see in other people. Bitterness truly is a root that grows deep if you allow and the poison seeps everywhere. It even spills out to others around you, if you aren't careful. Search your heart earnestly. When you identify a thorny root, pray for the person who is the source of bitterness and allow God to do His work. It's not fun being consumed by poison. Morning, Nov 30 And Amaziah said to the man of God, But what shall we do for the hundred talents which I have given to the army of Israel? And the man of God answered, The Lord is able to give thee much more than this. — 2 Chronicles 25:9 A very important question this seemed to be to the king of Judah, and possibly it is of even more weight with the tried and tempted O Christian. To lose money is at no times pleasant, and when principle involves it, the flesh is not always ready to make the sacrifice. “Why lose that which may be so usefully employed? May not the truth itself be bought too dear? What shall we do without it? Remember the children, and our small income!” All these things and a thousand more would tempt the Christian to put forth his hand to unrighteous gain, or stay himself from carrying out his conscientious convictions, when they involve serious loss. All men cannot view these matters in the light of faith; and even with the followers of Jesus, the doctrine of “we must live” has quite sufficient weight. The Lord is able to give thee much more than this is a very satisfactory answer to the anxious question. Our Father holds the purse-strings, and what we lose for his sake he can repay a thousand-fold. It is ours to obey his will, and we may rest assured that he will provide for us. The Lord will be no man’s debtor at the last. Saints know that a grain of heart's-ease is of more value than a ton of gold. He who wraps a threadbare coat about a good conscience has gained a spiritual wealth far more desirable than any he has lost. God’s smile and a dungeon are enough for a true heart; his frown and a palace would be hell to a gracious spirit. Let the worst come to the worst, let all the talents go, we have not lost our treasure, for that is above, where Christ sitteth at the right hand of God. Meanwhile, even now, the Lord maketh the meek to inherit the earth, and no good thing doth he withhold from them that walk uprightly. Morning, Nov 29 Thou shalt not go up and down as a talebearer among thy people ... Thou shalt in any wise rebuke thy neighbour, and not suffer sin upon him. — Leviticus 19:16, 17 Tale-bearing emits a threefold poison; for it injures the teller, the hearer, and the person concerning whom the tale is told. Whether the report be true or false, we are by this precept of God’s Word forbidden to spread it. The reputations of the Lord’s people should be very precious in our sight, and we should count it shame to help the devil to dishonour the Church and the name of the Lord. Some tongues need a bridle rather than a spur. Many glory in pulling down their brethren, as if thereby they raised themselves. Noah’s wise sons cast a mantle over their father, and he who exposed him earned a fearful curse. We may ourselves one of these dark days need forbearance and silence from our brethren, let us render it cheerfully to those who require it now. Be this our family rule, and our personal bond—Speak evil of no man. The Holy Spirit, however, permits us to censure sin, and prescribes the way in which we are to do it. It must be done by rebuking our brother to his face, not by railing behind his back. This course is manly, brotherly, Christlike, and under God’s blessing will be useful. Does the flesh shrink from it? Then we must lay the greater stress upon our conscience, and keep ourselves to the work, lest by suffering sin upon our friend we become ourselves partakers of it. Hundreds have been saved from gross sins by the timely, wise, affectionate warnings of faithful ministers and brethren. Our Lord Jesus has set us a gracious example of how to deal with erring friends in his warning given to Peter, the prayer with which he preceded it, and the gentle way in which he bore with Peter’s boastful denial that he needed such a caution. Morning, Nov 26 Whatsoever thy hand findeth to do, do it with thy might. — Ecclesiastes 9:10 “Whatsoever thy hand findeth to do,” refers to works that are possible. There are many things which our heart findeth to do which we never shall do. It is well it is in our heart; but if we would be eminently useful, we must not be content with forming schemes in our heart, and talking of them; we must practically carry out “whatsoever our hand findeth to do.” One good deed is more worth than a thousand brilliant theories. Let us not wait for large opportunities, or for a different kind of work, but do just the things we “find to do” day by day. We have no other time in which to live. The past is gone; the future has not arrived; we never shall have any time but time present. Then do not wait until your experience has ripened into maturity before you attempt to serve God. Endeavour now to bring forth fruit. Serve God now, but be careful as to the way in which you perform what you find to do—“do it with thy might.” Do it promptly; do not fritter away your life in thinking of what you intend to do to-morrow as if that could recompense for the idleness of today. No man ever served God by doing things to-morrow. If we honour Christ and are blessed, it is by the things which we do today. Whatever you do for Christ throw your whole soul into it. Do not give Christ a little slurred labour, done as a matter of course now and then; but when you do serve him, do it with heart, and soul, and strength. But where is the might of a Christian? It is not in himself, for he is perfect weakness. His might lieth in the Lord of Hosts. Then let us seek his help; let us proceed with prayer and faith, and when we have done what our “hand findeth to do,” let us wait upon the Lord for his blessing. What we do thus will be well done, and will not fail in its effect. Evening, Nov 20 The conies are but a feeble folk, yet make they their houses in the rocks. — Proverbs 30:26 Conscious of their own natural defencelessness, the conies resort to burrows in the rocks, and are secure from their enemies. My heart, be willing to gather a lesson from these feeble folk. Thou art as weak and as exposed to peril as the timid cony; be as wise to seek a shelter. My best security is within the munitions of an immutable Jehovah, where his unalterable promises stand like giant walls of rock. It will be well with thee, my heart, if thou canst always hide thyself in the bulwarks of his glorious attributes, all of which are guarantees of safety for those who put their trust in him. Blessed be the name of the Lord, I have so done, and have found myself like David in Adullam, safe from the cruelty of my enemy; I have not now to find out the blessedness of the man who puts his trust in the Lord, for long ago, when Satan and my sins pursued me, I fled to the cleft of the rock Christ Jesus, and in his riven side I found a delightful resting-place. My heart, run to him anew tonight, whatever thy present grief may be; Jesus feels for thee; Jesus consoles thee; Jesus will help thee. No monarch in his impregnable fortress is more secure than the cony in his rocky burrow. The master of ten thousand chariots is not one whit better protected than the little dweller in the mountain’s cleft. In Jesus the weak are strong, and the defenceless safe; they could not be more strong if they were giants, or more safe if they were in heaven. Faith gives to men on earth the protection of the God of heaven. More they cannot need, and need not wish. The conies cannot build a castle, but they avail themselves of what is there already: I cannot make myself a refuge, but Jesus has provided it, his Father has given it, his Spirit has revealed it, and lo, again tonight I enter it, and am safe from every foe. Listen to Break Chains by Kmor #np on #SoundCloud http://soundcloud.com/kmor/break-chains
Evening, Nov 19 O that I knew where I might find him! — Job 23:3 In Job’s uttermost extremity he cried after the Lord. The longing desire of an afflicted child of God is once more to see his Father’s face. His first prayer is not “O that I might be healed of the disease which now festers in every part of my body!” nor even “O that I might see my children restored from the jaws of the grave, and my property once more brought from the hand of the spoiler!” but the first and uppermost cry is, “O that I knew where I might find Him, who is my God! that I might come even to his seat!” God’s children run home when the storm comes on. It is the heaven-born instinct of a gracious soul to seek shelter from all ills beneath the wings of Jehovah. “He that hath made his refuge God,” might serve as the title of a true believer. A hypocrite, when afflicted by God, resents the infliction, and, like a slave, would run from the Master who has scourged him; but not so the true heir of heaven, he kisses the hand which smote him, and seeks shelter from the rod in the bosom of the God who frowned upon him. Job’s desire to commune with God was intensified by the failure of all other sources of consolation. The patriarch turned away from his sorry friends, and looked up to the celestial throne, just as a traveller turns from his empty skin bottle, and betakes himself with all speed to the well. He bids farewell to earth-born hopes, and cries, “O that I knew where I might find my God!” Nothing teaches us so much the preciousness of the Creator, as when we learn the emptiness of all besides. Turning away with bitter scorn from earth’s hives, where we find no honey, but many sharp stings, we rejoice in him whose faithful word is sweeter than honey or the honeycomb. In every trouble we should first seek to realize God’s presence with us. Only let us enjoy his smile, and we can bear our daily cross with a willing heart for his dear sake. "When you are on the way to court with your adversary, settle your differences quickly. Otherwise, your accuser may hand you over to the judge, who will hand you over to an officer, and you will be thrown into prison." (NLT) -Matthew 5:25 Pride can seep into a relationship when disagreements occur. The longer you sit and stew over your disagreement, the harder it is to reconcile. Pretty soon, days, weeks, and years pass by and you become accustomed to the way things have become in the relationship. Every passing moment without reconciliation makes it that much harder to turn around and say you are sorry. Don't let your pride get the better side of you. Morning, Nov 19 Avoid foolish questions. — Titus 3:9 Our days are few, and are far better spent in doing good, than in disputing over matters which are, at best, of minor importance. The old schoolmen did a world of mischief by their incessant discussion of subjects of no practical importance; and our Churches suffer much from petty wars over abstruse points and unimportant questions. After everything has been said that can be said, neither party is any the wiser, and therefore the discussion no more promotes knowledge than love, and it is foolish to sow in so barren a field. Questions upon points wherein Scripture is silent; upon mysteries which belong to God alone; upon prophecies of doubtful interpretation; and upon mere modes of observing human ceremonials, are all foolish, and wise men avoid them. Our business is neither to ask nor answer foolish questions, but to avoid them altogether; and if we observe the apostle’s precept (Titus 3:8) to be careful to maintain good works, we shall find ourselves far too much occupied with profitable business to take much interest in unworthy, contentious, and needless strivings. There are, however, some questions which are the reverse of foolish, which we must not avoid, but fairly and honestly meet, such as these: Do I believe in the Lord Jesus Christ? Am I renewed in the spirit of my mind? Am I walking not after the flesh, but after the Spirit? Am I growing in grace? Does my conversation adorn the doctrine of God my Saviour? Am I looking for the coming of the Lord, and watching as a servant should do who expects his master? What more can I do for Jesus? Such enquiries as these urgently demand our attention; and if we have been at all given to cavilling, let us now turn our critical abilities to a service so much more profitable. Let us be peace-makers, and endeavour to lead others both by our precept and example, to “avoid foolish questions.” Sent from Morning & Evening app for Android: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=yuku.morneve.app&referrer=utm_source%3Dself-share%26utm_medium%3Dyuku.morneve.app-market

Through their faith, the people in days of old earned a good reputation. (NLT) -Hebrews 11:2 What do your neighbors say about you? Are you viewed as a person whose word is as good as gold? How valuable is your handshake? It is important to note a direct result of being faithful to God is the gift of a good reputation. When you are faithful to God it correlates that you are faithful to other people as well. Be careful though, it's easy to take pride in your reputation. Morning, Nov 18 A spring shut up, a fountain sealed. — Song of Solomon 4:12 In this metaphor, which has reference to the inner life of a believer, we have very plainly the idea of secrecy. It is a spring shut up: just as there were springs in the East, over which an edifice was built, so that none could reach them save those who knew the secret entrance; so is the heart of a believer when it is renewed by grace: there is a mysterious life within which no human skill can touch. It is a secret which no other man knoweth; nay, which the very man who is the possessor of it cannot tell to his neighbour. The text includes not only secrecy, but separation. It is not the common spring, of which every passer-by may drink, it is one kept and preserved from all others; it is a fountain bearing a particular mark—a king’s royal seal, so that all can perceive that it is not a common fountain, but a fountain owned by a proprietor, and placed specially by itself alone. So is it with the spiritual life. The chosen of God were separated in the eternal decree; they were separated by God in the day of redemption; and they are separated by the possession of a life which others have not; and it is impossible for them to feel at home with the world, or to delight in its pleasures. There is also the idea of sacredness. The spring shut up is preserved for the use of some special person: and such is the Christian’s heart. It is a spring kept for Jesus. Every Christian should feel that he has God’s seal upon him—and he should be able to say with Paul, “From henceforth let no man trouble me, for I bear in my body the marks of the Lord Jesus.” Another idea is prominent—it is that of security. Oh! how sure and safe is the inner life of the believer! If all the powers of earth and hell could combine against it, that immortal principle must still exist, for he who gave it pledged his life for its preservation. And who “is he that shall harm you,” when God is your protector? As iron sharpens iron, so a friend sharpens a friend. (NLT) -Proverbs 27:17 God created us to be relational, not isolated. For some of us, our stubbornness or hubris can hurt us by making decisions in our own little world. But receiving Godly advice from a mentor could change the course of your life. Who is your mentor? If you don't know, actively take steps to seek someone out. Download this app to get your daily devotions: http://bit.ly/16uZrQ5

Evening, Nov 17 He that cleaveth wood shall be endangered thereby. — Ecclesiastes 10:9 Oppressors may get their will of poor and needy men as easily as they can split logs of wood, but they had better mind, for it is a dangerous business, and a splinter from a tree has often killed the woodman. Jesus is persecuted in every injured saint, and he is mighty to avenge his beloved ones. Success in treading down the poor and needy is a thing to be trembled at: if there be no danger to persecutors here there will be great danger hereafter. To cleave wood is a common every-day business, and yet it has its dangers; so then, reader, there are dangers connected with your calling and daily life which it will be well for you to be aware of. We refer not to hazards by flood and field, or by disease and sudden death, but to perils of a spiritual sort. Your occupation may be as humble as log splitting, and yet the devil can tempt you in it. You may be a domestic servant, a farm labourer, or a mechanic, and you may be greatly screened from temptations to the grosser vices, and yet some secret sin may do you damage. Those who dwell at home, and mingle not with the rough world, may yet be endangered by their very seclusion. Nowhere is he safe who thinks himself so. Pride may enter a poor man’s heart; avarice may reign in a cottager’s bosom; uncleanness may venture into the quietest home; and anger, and envy, and malice may insinuate themselves into the most rural abode. Even in speaking a few words to a servant we may sin; a little purchase at a shop may be the first link in a chain of temptations; the mere looking out of a window may be the beginning of evil. O Lord, how exposed we are! How shall we be secured! To keep ourselves is work too hard for us: only thou thyself art able to preserve us in such a world of evils. Spread thy wings over us, and we, like little chickens, will cower down beneath thee, and feel ourselves safe!
