Matthew 3:16-17 King James Version (KJV) 16 And Jesus, when he was baptized, went up straightway out of the water: and, lo, the heavens were opened unto him, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove, and lighting upon him: 17 And lo a voice from heaven, saying, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.

Therefore, let us offer through Jesus a continual sacrifice of praise to God, proclaiming our allegiance to his name. (NLT) -Hebrews 13:15
When we pray to God, most of the time we gloss over praising God. Instead, we cut to the chase and just ask God to bless us, our children, and heal our neighbors. Yet we serve a powerful God. One who deserves to be recognized and admired for His love, power, and grace. Let's spend a few moments talking to God by sharing our love and honor for Him. Isn't He glorious?

No, we declare God’s wisdom, a mystery that has been hidden and that God destined for our glory before time began. None of the rulers of this age understood it, for if they had, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory. However, as it is written: “What no eye has seen, what no ear has heard, and what no human mind has conceived” the things God has prepared for those who love him.

He is a good shepherd who has sacrificed Himself for you. If you are wondering where God is in your life or if He cares for you, this is your message. These are His words speaking directly to you.

O LORD, hear me as I pray; pay attention to my groaning. (NLT) -Psalm 5:1
Do you ever struggle with feeling like you aren't heard by others or worse misunderstood? It's never a good feeling when a trusted friend fails to listen or hear you. Rather than getting upset and mad at them recognize their limitations. Accept them for who they are and don't try to change them. Turn to God to be heard and understood. He is always waiting for you to turn your heart to Him. Have your needs met by God.

When you are confronted with your poor behavior how do you respond? Do you come up with reasons to blame the other person? Or do you return criticism and pull up past judgments? Neither of these reactions are valued and do nothing to further a relationship. Next time examine your role in the situation and own up to your wrongs. You will find forgiveness from Christ and others.

Are you thinking of making changes in your life soon? You don't have to have everything figured out. That's the beautiful part of this verse. God will open the right doors to allow His will to be done. Trying to choose a college? Wondering about your living situation? Thinking of applying for a new position at work? God can handle it, just seek out His will by testing out different opportunities. Pray that God can show you His will for your life and ask for the courage to seek out new opportunities.

Often their counsel is needed because they push us on to make us a better person. Do you have a friend or companion like this? If no one comes to mind, it's time to look through your phone's contact list. Find one person who can benefit from your friendship and make plans to eat a meal with them. Never pay back evil with more evil. Do things in such a way that everyone can see you are honorable. (NLT) -Romans 12:17
It happens fairly often, someone will be inconsiderate or mistreat you. In that split moment you have one of two options. You can choose to return evil or you can be honorable. Your response is a reflection of how you view God. If you think God will stand by and let this go unnoticed, you will respond with evil. Or if you believe God's righteous anger will pay them back, you will respond honorably and leave the rest up to God. How will you choose to respond in the moment you face mistreatment?

He has the power to change circumstances and bring people into your life. When your heart turns to honoring and loving Him you get closer to experiencing His power. So the promise is received by faith. It is given as a free gift. And we are all certain to receive it, whether or not we live according to the law of Moses, if we have faith like Abraham's. For Abraham is the father of all who believe. (NLT) -Romans 4:16
God declares people righteous, blameless, and sinless, not because we do anything to deserve it, but because we choose to believe God is good. Anyone who chooses to believe in God's goodness as the perfect father and puts their faith in Him will be covered for their weaknesses. Abraham chose to believe and he was considered righteous. Days happen where we can never do the right thing, say the right words, act the right way, or we just don't feel good enough. People who conceal their sins will not prosper, but if they confess and turn from them, they will receive mercy. (NLT) -Proverbs 28:13
Living with a guilty conscience certainly does not lead to peace. Actively hiding the truth through lying and manipulating does not lead to long term prosperity. However, revealing the truth and changing habits or lifestyle brings peace. This verse also says confession and repentance brings mercy. If your heart longs to receive peace or mercy, the first step is to open up about what you are doing. Then make a proactive change in your life to stop sinning. In time, you will receive mercy.

When we focus on humbling ourselves, we step aside and let Christ shine. How can we become less important? A few steps can make a difference such as seeking others' opinions or not being afraid to make mistakes. The meaning of going to church, or gathering as Christ followers, is very important. The foundation is to grow your relationship with God and getting closer to Him. It is a pathway to experiencing and connecting with God. When we connect with God regularly, it strengthens our other relationships with friends and family. Identify an area in which you worry and tell God you will turn it over to Him. When God saw what they had done and how they had put a stop to their evil ways, he changed his mind and did not carry out the destruction he had threatened. This change of plans greatly upset Jonah, and he became very angry. -Jonah 3:10-4:1
Jonah was peeved when the Ninevehites repented and turned towards God. He was sure God was going to destroy them. It's easy to get caught by our own stubbornness like Jonah. One prime example is building a case in your mind against someone, but when their actions turn against your argument you get angry even though it's in your favor. If this happens, it's important to not focus on being right, but instead, forgiveness and mercy.

What is human anger? It's anger that occurs when someone rubs against our pride or selfishness. God still wants us to get angry, but for the right reasons such as the injustice of orphans or widows. Learn to temper your selfish anger. When you feel yourself getting angry because your feelings are hurt, swallow it and focus your mind on something else. These trials will show that your faith is genuine. It is being tested as fire tests and purifies gold--though your faith is far more precious than mere gold. So when your faith remains strong through many trials, it will bring you much praise and glory and honor on the day when Jesus Christ is revealed to the whole world. (NLT) -1 Peter 1:7
Authentic, it's a difficult quality to find in our culture. When we do find it, it's like a precious metal. The same is true of faith and when we face hardship our faith becomes more authentic.
