Matthew 3:16-17 King James Version (KJV) 16 And Jesus, when he was baptized, went up straightway out of the water: and, lo, the heavens were opened unto him, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove, and lighting upon him: 17 And lo a voice from heaven, saying, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.

When God saw what they had done and how they had put a stop to their evil ways, he changed his mind and did not carry out the destruction he had threatened. This change of plans greatly upset Jonah, and he became very angry. -Jonah 3:10-4:1
Jonah was peeved when the Ninevehites repented and turned towards God. He was sure God was going to destroy them. It's easy to get caught by our own stubbornness like Jonah. One prime example is building a case in your mind against someone, but when their actions turn against your argument you get angry even though it's in your favor. If this happens, it's important to not focus on being right, but instead, forgiveness and mercy.
