But I'll tell you whom to fear. Fear God, who has the power to kill you and then throw you into hell. Yes, he's the one to fear. (NLT) -Luke 12:5 When our fear comes from sources other than God our actions look totally different. Many times the source of fear comes from man. We are often driven by fear of being disliked, pressure to measure up, false guilt, or disloyalty. When we fear God, we have the freedom to be honest with man and not worry about backlash or conflict. We no longer get caught up in reputation, flattery, or malice. Ultimately, it is the loving, all powerful God we should fear more than man. Looking back on yesterday, were your actions driven by fear of man or fear of God? Instead, we will speak the truth in love, growing in every way more and more like Christ, who is the head of his body, the church. (NLT) -Ephesians 4:15 There is a fine balance between extending someone grace while still being truthful towards sinful actions. The key phrase is to speak the truth in love. Isn't that what Christ did instead of condemning people? It's a constant struggle to master this delicate balance. Pray that God reveals to you the appropriate words and the most loving way to handle speaking the truth. Download this app to get your daily devotions: http://bit.ly/16uZrQ5
