Matthew 3:16-17 King James Version (KJV) 16 And Jesus, when he was baptized, went up straightway out of the water: and, lo, the heavens were opened unto him, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove, and lighting upon him: 17 And lo a voice from heaven, saying, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.

You see, we don't go around preaching about ourselves. We preach that Jesus Christ is Lord, and we ourselves are your servants for Jesus' sake. (NLT) -2 Corinthians 4:5
What is it that is inside of us that always wants to toot our horn? Have you ever noticed how much enjoyment you get out of building ourselves up in front of others to make ourselves feel valued? Feeling valued isn't a bad thing. It is the act of standing up straight, wagging your finger at others and saying, "I can do it better," that is not good. We miss out on leaving room for Jesus to make a difference through serving Him. The next time you find yourself boasting, change your sentence to reflect the great work Christ has done in you.
